The National Dormouse Monitoring Programme (NDMP)
Along with Royal Holloway University of London and Natural England, we lead on the National Dormouse Monitoring Programme by collating and inputting the data from over 300 sites across the UK. The NDMP has been running for the past 25 years and has several hundred monitors responsible for organising box checks throughout the year. In 2012 5407 hazel dormice records from 338 sites were entered into the database. We are extremely grateful to all our dormouse monitors for their contribution to the programme.
If you are interested in monitoring, or if you would like to report a dormouse sighting, please register for the NDMP or enter sightings on the National Dormouse Database. Registered users can read the guidelines and download the 2013 NDMP forms here. You can also get involved by taking part in the annual Great Nut Hunt.
PTES have a specific fund and application process just for dormouse nest boxes. Applications are welcomed at any time of year to replace or provide new boxes. You can download your own nest box design here.
