go nuts for dormice

The National Dormouse Monitoring Programme collects information on the numbers and density of dormice in different habitats and places throughout their remaining range. Around 200 sites are monitored across the country several times each year by teams of very dedicated volunteers who carry out checks of dormouse nest boxes. Their results are sent in to us and held in a growing dormouse data bank which we use to assess their well being over time.

2009 was the 21st birthday of the National Dormouse Monitoring Programme and we celebrated this remarkable collaborative achievement with a number of dormouse events and activities, called ‘go nuts for dormice’.

Find a dormouse event near you, take part in our Great Nut Hunt or have a look at our fundraising ideas to hold your own event and raise money for us. You can send us your dormouse events listings to emily@ptes.org
