hogwatch

Jointly funded by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society and PTES and run in collaboration with Royal Holloway, University of London, HogWatch was the biggest survey of hedgehogs undertaken in Great Britain. Its aim was to establish where hedgehogs are present and where they are absent.

Of the twenty thousand records that were collected, 75% of sites had hedgehogs present (ranging from 83% in the East of England and North East regions to 41% in London). Hedgehog distribution in England and the Welsh borders shows a clear east-west division, supporting the findings from our Mammals on Roads survey.
