volunteering information
Creating the orchard inventory in England and Wales is largely dependent on a network of local volunteers. We are working with local orchard groups, wildlife trusts, parish councils and agricultural colleges to promote the value of traditional orchards and to carry out the habitat surveys.
The project is carefully managed to bring together and build on the work of local and national Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) groups working on the noble chafer beetle and traditional orchards.
If you would like to volunteer some time to help survey your local orchards, please contact us and a survey instruction pack will be sent to you. In addition to the documents below, the pack provides survey instructions together with a map of orchard sites in your local area. If you are an orchard owner please click here to get your orchard mapped and for our free management advice leaflet.
We are recruiting volunteers throughout England and Wales. For more information please email lauren.alexander@ptes.org or call 020 7498 4533.
